Welcome to the latest EBUG Bulletin.
- The EBUG Annual General Meeting will be on Thursday 19 June, from 6pm to 8pm at the Quaker Meeting House, 7 Victoria Terrace, Edinburgh.
Our Constitution requires members to be notified at least 21 days before the meeting, including venue, date and time. So this is the formal notice of the AGM. As usual, we will:
– Elect a Committee of up to 11 members (nominations may be made to the Secretary beforehand or at the meeting).
– Present a report of our work over the year.
– Present EBUG’s accounts for the previous year.
– Discuss any proposals given to the Secretary at least 14 days before the meeting. - In our previous Bulletin (Number 19) we reported that we’re working with Napier University students on a project to look at how we can broaden our engagement with bus uses. While EBUG is well-known in local transport circles, thousands of bus users probably haven’t yet heard of us.
The students are surveying local bus users for evidence on how to enhance community engagement and reflect user needs.
To take part in their survey, click this link and complete the form as soon as possible. - The big story of the past two months was the Council agreeing a 15 year lease with the owners of the Edinburgh Bus Station site. We received several media contacts on the subject.
This secures the Bus Station on its current site until at least 2042. This is a great relief, as the prospect of Edinburgh losing a city centre bus station caused widespread concern. Each year, nearly 6 million people pass through the Bus Station, and thousands of individual bus services call there. - The Council’s Public Transport Team is undertaking a monitoring exercise of all supported bus services over a period of six months, assisted by Jacobs (transport consultants). This will entail test journeys, onboard surveys, collecting and analysing patronage data from operators as well as individual user feedback. The latter should be sent directly to supported.services@
